The Race... Something Spectacular Imagine...

The sun setting over the Brisbane River, thousands of runners and walkers enjoying a March evening... pounding the pavement, putting their bodies to the test. Grimaces, smiles and a few frowns are some of the expressions temporarily occupying the faces of participants...finally as the sun sets, expressions change as men, women and children of all ages beam coming across the finishing line.

Looking towards the finishing clock, realising a personal best, reaching a goal and most importantly having participated in Queensland's only Twilight Half Marathon and 10km Festival. The sense of fulfilment when you go to bed later that night...something unforgettable.

One in two families are touched by cancer in their lifetime and Cure Cancer Australia is determined to improve prevention, detection and treatment outcomes to reduce the suffering caused by cancer.

In 2011, Cure Cancer Australia will provide 21 one year grants of $90,000 each to the best young researchers in our country with fresh approaches across all areas of cancer research.

$50 funds one hour, $1,900 funds one week, $7,500 funds one month and $90,000 funds one year of vital cancer research.

Can Too is a non-profit program that matches fitness incentives with a good cause! Beginners and experienced athletes alike are given professional coaching as part of a team to run or swim in endurance events. In return, participants raise valuable funds that go directly towards funding cancer researchers through Cure Cancer Australia. Since its inception in 2005 Can Too has raised over $7.7 million dollars providing vital seed funding to support young researchers with innovative ideas, enabling them to pursue projects that are the most promising in their potential to cure cancer.
